After the (vibration) cleaning (last photos of that).

I'm really flashed! I'm not new into cleaning a fountainpen, but today I used a vibration cleaning machine the first time. The result is impressive, right? :-)

I hope for drying soon, I finally want to try the new ink...

I like the sonic cleaners. There is a slight risk though. I sonic cleaned a vintage pocket pen and vibrated the vintage glue holding the inlay apart. The metal inlay was bent before and needed work anyway.

Watch for delicate parts.

@Tallastro 🇺🇦 Yes, you have to be careful. Not every fountain pen is suitable for vibration cleaning. Especially not for ultrasonic. 🙄

But it could also have been due to your cleaning fluid. That's why I only use dishwashing liquid and, like today, some soda.

So far I've been lucky. ;-)

I start with water and maybe add soap if things are stubborn. I soaked and flushed this pen and thought it was mostly clean. The sonic cleaner shook loose lots of old ink. 50 year old adhesive that was already weakened was my issue with the inlay. I'm glad it popped off where I could find the part. All repaired now.

Good to know about. I'll keep that in mind.

All repaired now.
